Out My Window

It's hard to remember the later when the former is what I see today. Isn't that funny?

I feel like a kid, I'm not sure how it is I have kids as I don't remember graduating to all knowing parent status. Maybe that is because I've never done this before, does that mean parents are not all knowing? I keep waiting to grow up, it will happen right? Or is this as grown up as I get? A childhood friend had her first baby recently, that made me feel a little old as I have 4 babies. She was the one who told me what a french kiss is, we were in my tree. I think she may be one of the only people who knows me completely without a filter. Sure we have now been apart longer than we were ever inseparable but still...

So growing up. Recently my mind has been heavy? filled? with the question of what I want to be when I grow up. Or what I will do in my next life, not in a reencarnation sense but in the sense of different seasons of life. There are a few things that interest me to prusue. Now thoughts of timing and order float through my brain, and I think I'm ready to start. Yes I know my plate is plenty full but after 11 years of constantly giving all of myself to my children I am feeling the desire to give a little to myself.

So do you feel grown up? What does it feel like? Tired? I feel that. Maybe that is what it feels like to be grown up.

And what do you want to be when you grow up? What will you do in your next life?

Running Away!

Last Saturday I ran away all by myself! I walked along the river and checked out the Co-op's new home. I also took my camera! So here is a little photo tour of this little part of Reno!

SNOW!!

We got about 5 inches of snow last week! The kids were so excited to wake to the white wonderland outside! Especially since we have had so very little snow this year (like everyone)! I called a snow day from school, it reminded me of "President's Day" at SVC. I wonder if they still do that. Once a semester (supposedly completely unknown to everyone including professors) the president of our college would call "President's Day" and all classes were cancelled for the day! It was wonderful to anticipate! Our first date was on President's Day on Oct. 31, 1997.
Anyway I called a snow day! They don't seem to do that here very often in the public schools, just 2 hour delays. So I spent the morning putting kids in and then 5 min later getting kids out of their snow gear, we watched a movie, I knitted, and then I dug the car out to take the boys and Zinnia to scouts.

I know I have 4 kids and there are only pictures of one, but she is just so gosh darn cute and much slower! ;)

:: I tryed a second Baked Oatmeal recipe this week. I really liked this one so I thought I'd share! I used coconut yougert & milk of course and I did not have dried apricots so I used the canned in water ones my mom put up for me last summer.

:: I am feeling we need a little sugar detox after all these candy filled holidays. I'd love to give it up completly but then I'd have to give up going to church. Sugar is the Mormon drug of choice I am convinced.

Arrow of Light!

Today is Riley's 11th birthday. I'm not sure how we got here already it seems like we were just getting to know him and now here we are 11 years later!

This week Riley was awarded his Weblos badge and he also earned his Arrow of Light. The arrow of light is the one thing from his Cub Scout uniform that he will put on his Boy Scout uniform. Meaning it is a BIG DEAL. Outside the church boys have 2 years to complete their Weblos award and their Arrow of Light, but scouts in the church only have one year to complete it.

In the Sun!

The other day at Oxbow I took the opportunity to catch a few fun shots of the kids. Leili is easier to photograph as she runs my speed. Plus she is just so dang cute as she discovers things for the first time! The series of her here is when she was throwing rocks into the river, she would clap she would cheer, she would be just amazed! It was great!

Riley my thinker loves to watch the water, it mesmerises me too! Jake is always adventuring. And sweet Fern barely slowed down enough for me to capture this cute snap of her!!

:: Dan bought me some pretty tulips (he felt really bad about the computer...)

:: Derby Day descended with a flurry to get cars done! I was just glad Dan was in town this year so that it did not fall on me!

:: Jake won "Sportiest Car" and Riley won first place!

:: Knitting! I found something I could knit for a boy!

My miracle man has done it again!

He found a way to copy all of my hard drive on to our external drive (mainly for free), and he bought me a new hard drive (not free) and put it in and loaded all the drivers. So once I get this all organized then I'll be back to normal.
